2022 NEW SEASON

2022 NEW SEASON

I hope you are all in good health and coping Ok with the current uncertainty. This email is fairly long, but I hope it covers everything you need to begin the hockey season.

Junior musters

This year, due to one of our regular turfs being unavailable, we need to run the Year 7&8 musters separately from the rest of the Juniors. The first muster for Year 7&8 players will be next Sunday, March 13th, from 11:00am-12:00pm. This will be held at the Diocesan School for Girls hockey turf (entrance and parking off Clyde St, Epsom).

If you have not done so already, please register your child’s details beforehand on the club website:grammarwindsor.org.nz

Musters for players in school years 1-6 will be held at the Auckland Grammar hockey turf, Normanby Road, beginning on the 22nd of March.

The full calendar for the musters is:

Running musters during the current Covid-19 surge

Yet again, Covid-19 is interrupting the usual way we run things, but we remain hopeful that the winter season will be able to get underway as scheduled at the start of May. We appreciate that some players may not be able to attend some or all of the musters, however we will do all we can to fit them into a suitable team. Please make sure your child is registered through the club website and it is also helpful if you send me a short email if they are not able to attend a muster.

Under the Red Traffic Light Setting

As we begin the season there are some extra restrictions affecting match and training days.

-       You will all be familiar with the need for players to stay away if they have Covid-19 symptoms, a positive test result or need to isolate as a close (household) contact of someone who has Covid-19.

-       Under Auckland Hockey rules, spectators are not permitted during musters and training sessions while we are in the Red Traffic Light setting. Players will be gathered together to leave the venue and supervised to ensure they are all safely collected by their parent/guardian.

-       At matches under the Red setting, one spectator per player is permitted for Junior players.

-       Masks should be worn when players arrive and depart from a training venue, but these do not need to be worn on the turf.

-       Players under 12 do not require a vaccine pass.

-       Players over the age of 12 years 3 months will need a current vaccine pass to participate in training sessions and matches (we will make a record of those sighted so these will not need to be shown at every match or training session).

Equipment

For the musters please ensure your child has a mouthguard, shin pads, water bottle, running shoes and hockey stick. We will have a few spare sticks available for those trying hockey for the first time.

Further information about the season ahead, uniforms and playing fees is available on the club website: grammarwindsor.org.nz

Once again, please remember to register your child and if they are in Years 7&8 their first muster is coming up this Sunday. Apologies to anyone whose child is now too old to be playing Juniors hockey. An email detailing the Youth hockey season will be coming out shortly. If you no longer want to receive these emails please let me know.

I hope to see your children back enjoying hockey soon.

Ngā mihi,

Andrew Dalbeth
