Our Club
Policies
Grammar Windsor supports and aligns itself to the policy framework set by both Auckland Hockey and Hockey NZ.
Grammar Windsor Hockey Club Committee
Our club is led by a dedicated Committee that meets approximately every six weeks. As outlined in our constitution, the Committee's role is to represent your interests, support the growth of the club and our players, and ensure alignment with the policies of the Auckland Hockey Association and the New Zealand Hockey Federation through our affiliation.

You don't need to play hockey to be a part of the Committee—expertise from outside the sport is just as valuable. With your help, we can continue to champion the enjoyment and advancement of hockey within our community.
Please let us know if you are interested in becoming a part of our committee.

Our History
1930's
Grammar Old Boys Hockey Club was established in the 1930s by a group of Grammar Old Boys, led by Bill Ahlers and Captain Garth Twigden, with the assistance of Mr. Joe Coop. The club’s first Secretary was J.W. Fielder (father of Clive Fielder), and annual subscriptions were set at just $1.50.

In 1933, the club won the prestigious Harvard Cup and finished second in the King’s Birthday Tournament. Points in the tournament were awarded not only for hockey but also for running races held during lunchtime. By 1935, the club fielded its first Senior (Premier) team.

1940's
Windsor Ladies Hockey Club began in the early 1940s as "Wesley Presbyterian," founded by a group of women who attended church together. As the club grew, it attracted members from outside the church, and eventually, the connection to the church faded.

On April 13th, 1949, the club was officially incorporated as Windsor Ladies Hockey Club. The reason for choosing the name "Windsor" is unclear, but it may have been selected for its royal connotations or simply because it started with a "W."
1980's
In 1981, Windsor Ladies formed a preliminary association with Grammar Old Boys Hockey Club. At the time, the clubrooms were located in the old squash court at Hobson Park.

On November 15th, 1985, the two clubs officially merged to become Grammar Windsor Hockey Club.

1990's
By the late 1980s, the club relocated from Hobson Park as the fields were integrated into Dilworth Primary School.
Leveraging its Old Boys connection, the club helped construct new clubrooms next to the Auckland Grammar School turf. However, this arrangement was short-lived, and by the late 1990s, the club exited its lease.

Over the decades, the club has proudly produced numerous representative players, including Carol Duske, Kylie Foy, Megan Quedley, Moira Chamberlain, Liz Robinson, Tina Bell, and Mandy Smith.
